Richard’s practise encompasses all areas of criminal and appellate law in all jurisdictions - he has appeared in numerous bail applications, pleas, trials, contested hearings and appeals.
Richard was admitted to practice in 1997. From 1998 to 2002 he worked as a criminal lawyer for the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service. He then worked as a Senior Lecturer in Law at Deakin University Law School. He signed the Bar Roll on 24 May 2007.
He appears in the Magistrates, County and Supreme Courts - in both the trial division and the Court of Appeal - in all criminal matters.
Richard is admitted to appear in all states of Australia and regularly appears interstate.
He is co-author of the Australian Sentencing (Thomson Reuters) (2013) and has published extensively in the areas of sentencing, evidence, criminal procedure and prisoners' rights.
